Do you spend time travelling to work and are thinking how to use this time more effectively? Professor Richard Wilding has been searching for methods to disseminate supply chain concepts which he knows can really make a difference to both commercial and non-profit organisations. The Supply Chain Videos and Podcasts produced by Professor Richard Wilding explore the strategies and approaches of effective supply Chain management. They includes interviews with leading academics and practitioners, reviews of papers and sources of other information. Case studies will also be discussed in a lively and informative way. The target duration for each the audio podcast is 20 minutes while video's area 5 minutes. The podcasts are aimed at all those involved in or interested in the supply chain from undergraduate students to board level directors, it will educate, provoke new ideas and generate enthusiasm for supply chain issues. Best of all it will be free of charge and can be downloaded by anyone! <br /> <br /> What is the Supply Chain Podcast & Supply Chain Video?<br /> <br /> A podcast is simply audio or video files that can be played on an mp3 player or computer. You subscribe to them using software, for example, Apple iTunes (which is freely available from www.itunes.com) and each time a new podcast show is released your computer will download it for you. It can be likened to a radio show broadcast that can be listened to at your convenience at anytime! Podcasts, however are not broadcast but "Narrowcast" to a subscribing audience, podcasting is the abbreviation for "Personal On-Demand Narrowcasting" (see "Podcasting for Dummies" by Morris & Terra, Wiley, 2006 page 13)<br /> <br /> Pictures can tell a thousand words<br /> New "enhanced podcasts" enable pictures to be embedded into the podcast so in Professor Wilding's audio podcasts embedded pictures, PowerPoint slides and web links can be displayed as the podcast is played in itunes or on your ipod. These can be used to gain extra information on the concepts and issues discussed. If you have a new colour screened ipod (e.g. ipod nano, photo or video) these images will be displayed on the screen of this device as the podcast progresses. So you can even view these pictures on the move! (But of course not when you are driving a car or operating other machinery!!)<br /> <br /> Gain knowledge on Supply Chain Concepts on the Move. <br /> The mp3 and aac format is a recognised standard and even cars from the Ford Fiesta to the Mercedes S Class are now "mp3 enabled" allowing you to connect your ipod or other mp3 device into the cars audio system. If you have a traditional CD player in your car then this is not a problem, you can download the podcast onto your computer with itunes and easily burn it to an audio CD.
